Strain through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, using the bottom of a ladle or a rubber spatula to press liquid through strainer.Fresh watermelon juice can be substituted. You want to use a super sweet, juicy watermelon for this recipe. Fresh watermelon. Using a ripe, in-season watermelon ensures the best flavor.Cointreau. Triple Sec or any orange liqueur can be substituted.Tequila. Use the best quality tequila you can find.A salted rim is a classic and to me, a non-negotiable, but totally optional if you’re not a fan. Depending on the sweetness of your watermelon, you might need a splash of simple syrup or a squeeze of agave. Tequila, of course, along with Cointreau or Triple Sec, fresh watermelon and lime juice are all that’s needed. Add in a small pinch of salt and shake once more. Mix the honey with the warm water and shake with the watermelon juice, tequila, orange juice, and lime juice. Wet the rim of a glass with a slice of lime and dredge through the salt.
